Abstract
Involving stakeholders and community partners in design is important for creating contextually relevant and impactful solutions. One way of to effectively do this with communities/stakeholders is to use speculative design methods. This approach can ensure that design solutions are deeply rooted in the specific cultural, social, and environmental contexts of the communities they serve. Within this talk I will talk about how speculative and participatory design can be used to address the unique needs of diverse communities, the importance of designing in context and designing for sustainable outcomes.
