We are excited to announce the first civic engagement event of DCitizens. It is a one-day workshop on the 25th of January that aims to bring together a diverse group of participants from academia, industry, the public and 3rd sector to discuss the needs and opportunities in three challenge areas: inclusive education, social cohesion, and sustainable living. Particularly, we want to explore the role of technology in today’s society. The workshop will be led by local community partners who are dedicated to making a positive impact in Lisbon.
The workshop will begin with an invited keynote from António Brito Guterres followed by short pitches from local community partners. Each partner will present their work, strategic vision, and aspirations. The presentations will be followed by round-table discussions with the workshop participants to generate draft proposals for a 1-year research project. These can be used as collaboration seeds and submitted to our Open Commissioning Platform in the following months. Our goal is to support these projects by providing our university’s human and technical resources, making it a truly Civic University supporting local communities.
We believe that by involving local partners and community organizations in the research process, we can ensure that our efforts are aligned with their needs and that the results will directly and positively impact our community in Lisbon.
The event will be held on the 25th of January (9 AM – 3 PM) in the Creative Hub Beato. Coffee breaks and lunch will be provided. If you wish to participate, RSVP by the 18th of January to hugo.nicolau@tecnico.ulisboa.pt.
