The European research project “DCitizens: Fostering Digital Civics Research and Innovation in Lisbon” will officially begin with a three-day kick-off meeting that brings together experts from Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (Italy), the University of Siegen (Germany) and the University of Northumbria (United Kingdom), to set the scene for the project, align on the research plan, and establish a strong team spirit.

We will review the project’s objectives, work packages, responsibilities, and expected outcomes on the first day. On the second day, we will focus on the research component and promote discussions about the overall research plan and short-term action points. We will also get acquainted with other research projects at the Interactive Technologies Institute and pursue further synergies within the consortium.

On the third and final day, we will organise the first civic event of DCitizens, a one-day workshop involving participants from academia, industry, the public and 3rd sector. Local community partners will lead the discussion into the needs and opportunities to reach their vision. Round-table discussions will generate a draft proposal for a 1-year research project. We invited local partners that work on three challenge areas: inclusive education, social cohesion, and sustainable living.
